19th Estilo De Vida Competition advocates “Designing Spaces for Developing Minds”


With a theme that inspires creativity and social responsibility, the 19th Estilo De Vida (19th EDV) will showcase children’s library designs at the PHILCONSTRUCT Expo 2022 on November 3 to 6.


The inter-school interior design competition challenged students to incorporate in the libraries innovative and flexible shelving solutions, safe and ergonomic furniture, and overall environment conducive to learning.

After the top 3 finalists build their designs for the exhibit, the materials will be transferred to three beneficiary schools as donation.

The 19th EDV Chairperson Architect Lesley Espiritu-Villanueva shared in her Facebook post that “we are partnering with LINKS Building Bridges for Children, Inc., whose main objective is to find organizational partners to help build “Hooked On Books” (HOB) Libraries in select public schools around the Philippines.”



LINKS is a non-profit organization run by volunteers for children’s education. For many years in the Philippines, the group has built libraries, donated books and empowered community stakeholders in building happy, healthy and inspiring environment for children.



Prior the hybrid event in SMX Convention Center Manila, and in World Trade Center Metro Manila, both located in Pasay City, Villanueva, who is also President of construction firm DATEM, urged those interested to donate children’s books to help fill the libraries.


A must-see event for design enthusiasts


Estilo De Vida has become an industry staple. The brainchild of Jorge A. Consunji, Non-Executive Director, DMCI Holdings, Inc., this annual design competition regularly receives an overwhelming number of entries from students and their professors from all over the country.


The EDV is co-organized by the Philippine Constructors Association (PCA) and the Philippine Institute of Interior Designers.

“We take pride in offering a competition that exquisitely presents the remarkable talent of young Filipino designers. Through Estilo de Vida, we support and hone them in becoming the promising Interior Design professionals of their generation,” said PCA President Engr. Wilfredo Decena.

PCA is composed of 1,500 members nationwide coming from the fields of engineering, building, trade and specialty contracting. who are duly accredited by the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board, including construction materials and equipment suppliers and distinguished personalities of the construction industry and other allied organizations.

Also, PHILCONSTRUCT Event Chairperson Engr. Ronaldo Elepaño, Jr., who is Vice President for International Business Development of DMCI shared that “For years now, Estilo de Vida has been one of the major attractions in PHILCONSTRUCT. This competition has truly proven its purpose in the interior design industry by bringing in young and talented interior design students!”


PHILCONSTRUCT, the largest and most anticipated annual event in the industry, is poised to provide a truly unique and comprehensive trade show experience for all delegates and visitors.
